versatile.jpgIt’s that time again where I got tagged. This time I’ve been tagged by lovely Rosemary whose blog Booomcha is just a delight. She’s a great writer and one of the kindest people in the Sims community. I’m happy she thought of me for this. The rules for the award are as such:

  • Write 7 interesting facts about yourself
  • Nominate 15+ amazing bloggers for this award. That’s a lot of bloggers when you’re a newbie. I won’t be offended if you choose not to “do anything with it.”

So I’ll start with the facts (I hope they’re actually interesting):

  1. I’m pretty much bilingual, with my mother tongue being Danish and my secondary language being English. I’ve sometimes been asked if I’ve lived abroad, but I’ve just learnt English from school, media, and the Internet. Denmark is a good country for learning English, because we don’t dub our movies unless they’re for small children – instead we have subtitles. Other than Danish and English, I know a little German, French, Latin, and ancient Greek.
  2. My first completed “novel” was hand-written in an A5 notebook when I was 12 – it was 72 pages long, though with my big, clumsy handwriting, that’s not a lot. It was a carbon copy of the tv-show Columbo which I was super into. I changed the name of the main character and came up with a dumb case for him to solve – I don’t think you can expect better than a copycat thing from a 12-year-old. I am proud of the interesting spelling-mistakes, though. I mistook the word ‘residence’ for ‘resistance’ (the words are pretty much the same in Danish, though spelling differs) and yes, that’s a silly mistake, but I still knew those words as a twelve-year-old, and I think that’s cool.
  3. I’m a gamer. I like games that are open-ended, creative, story-based, and where you can collect and explore stuff – seriously, that’s like crack to me – I won’t say no to a good 3D platformer, either. Oh, and pixelart rocks my world. Some of my favourite games include: Terraria, the Ace Attorney series, Slime RancherStardew Valley, Portal/Portal 2, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and Banjo-Kazooie/Banjo-Tooie. They’re in no particular order, apart from Terraria – that one’s probably my favourite of all time.
  4. I once won an ancient Greek contest. I had to read, translate, and analyse a little bit of a Greek tragedy (Iphigenia in Aulis – it’s great, go read it and everything else by Euripides) and I won a trip to Greece. Sadly, that never came to be. Greece’s economy was (is?) not great, and I instead received a few complimentary gifts. My teacher got me some scholarship money to travel for instead, though, and I ended up spending them on a trip to Italy in 2014 which was pretty much the greatest trip I’ve ever been on.
  5. I use the Oxford comma when I write in English, and I wish we had it in Danish. It’s lovely, neat, and useful.
  6. In winter, I live in big sweaters and slippers. My boyfriend jokes that I run about the house, leaving sweaters wherever I go. He’s not too far off.
  7. I freaking love tea, especially good (that is: loose leaf) tea. I prefer green and white teas, though I’ll avoid green tea if I know that it’s made with boiling water (it makes it all bitter). Though many would say you’re not a true tea aficionado if you drink it with sugar, I don’t care. I take mine with a little, because it enhances the taste.

Now, as for tagging, I’m a little headache-y and tired today, so I’d rather save some energy and leave it to others who have been tagged. So I’d like to direct another thanks to Rosemary and to everyone reading. I hope you have a great day – I, for one, will enjoy that the weather isn’t freezing (the temperature is over 10 degrees celsius – for a Dane, that’s practically tropical) and hope that I have the energy for a spot of writing later.

I’ll see you guys in the next post. Cheers!

I can see you being bilingual. That’s admirable 😀
That’s cute with your ‘novel’. I used to make some sort of collaborations with my friends as we wrote in notebooks during lessons in primary school.
Oh, ancient Greek. I wish I knew bits like that.
Haha, I can never get used to Oxford comma because I’ve been taught never to write a comma before “and” – that was in Polish, but I think it left its mark on me.
It was 19 degrees Celsius here today and boy, did it feel like summer.

    NotJustaBook · April 4, 2018 at 5:28 pm

I can’t bring myself to throw out that ‘novel’ so I still have it in a box 🙂
At one point I started using the Oxford comma in English, and now I’m so used to it I almost add it in Danish, lol. It always feels empty when I have to remove it from my Danish sentences…
I think we had 16 degrees – that’s the kind of weather that makes a Dane put on shorts and a short-sleeved shirt. And it makes my winter-depressed brain so happy 😀

Congratulations on your award!
Very interesting answers!
I’d never heard of the Oxford comma before, although I’ve most certainly used it somehow, lol! Very interesting!
I’m very sorry about your almost trip to Greece! Although the economy is not great indeed, what happened to you should not have happened, I think it’s inexcusable..! But that way you got to visit Italy, which is an awesome destination 😀
I still can’t get over the fact that you know ancient greek, so very admirable (I pretty much hated it in school and I’m Greek 😛)!

    NotJustaBook · April 5, 2018 at 3:45 am

    Thank you 🙂
I’m pretty much a grammar nerd, hence both my love of the comma and of ancient Greek :p
It was really sad not to get the trip. It sounds like it would have been awesome… still, like you said: Italy is awesome and I got to see some unforgettable destinations 🙂

Woah, your layout has changed so much since the last time I was here binging XD I’ll miss the yellow but these gray and pink tones are quite nice as well~
Congrats on the award! It’s crazy that English isn’t your first language :O I feel like I might’ve seen you mention that before but I’m still amazed. If you never mentioned it, I never would’ve guessed. I enjoy gaming as well, especially when there’s an open world to explore, I love when there’s attention to detail 🙂 Dude, your facts are all amazing, I feel like mine will be so basic XD I hope you rest up and feel better!

    NotJustaBook · April 5, 2018 at 3:52 am

Haha, yes, I got a little tired of the yellow… after worrying that everyone else wouldn’t like it xD glad you like the new one as well 🙂
Yup, Danish born and bred 🙂 I heard at some point is Scandinavians are generally good at English. We start learning early in my country (used to be fourth grade when I was a kid, now it’s in first). I’m glad my little mistakes aren’t too obvious 🙂
Aw, I just read yours and they’re really great, too 😀 these are really just the most interesting I could think of – plenty of boring stuff in my life!
Thanks for all your kind words <3

Lila Remonn · April 4, 2018 at 11:17 pm

That’s amazing that you are bilingual, as well as knowing bits of other languages!
Congrats to your 12 year old self for even finishing a story! I have been writing since I was 13 and STILL have not completed a single story lmao, apart from the past two legacy generations I guess 🤣
It’s so cool that you won that contest, but it’s sad that you didn’t get that trip 🙁 A trip to Italy sounds awesome too though! What did you do there?

    NotJustaBook · April 5, 2018 at 3:57 am

I am kind of proud of my ability to finish things, though between the ages of 20-27 I finished NOTHING. So most of what I’ve written is from my teens and consequently it’s pretty cringy :p
The trip to Italy was incredible! I went with uni = a bunch of archaeologists. So we saw LOTS of ruins, among other things we went to Pompeii and Herculaneum. We saw an obscene amount of Roman villas as well. Because it was essentially an educational trip, we saw so many other things. Museums, ruins, old documents, more ruins… it was just great 😀

      Lila Remonn · April 5, 2018 at 4:06 am

Wow! I would love to go to Italy one day for that old architecture 😀

freja64 · April 5, 2018 at 10:05 am

First, congrats to the award! 🙂 I see we share the same Scandinavian origins, I’m Swedish! It’s a pity you didn’t get to Greece, it’s a wonderful country, but if I had to choose I would pick Italy any time, any day! I’m absolutely fascinated with old Roman culture, and Italian food is among the best 🙂 *carefully checks over shoulder to see noone’s noticed – I live in France and you don’t mess with Franch people about food…*

    NotJustaBook · April 6, 2018 at 9:33 am

Ah, that’s awesome. Hello, fellow Scandinavian! 😀 I always get so happy when I meet others!
I can imagine it being pretty spectacular, though as you said – Italy is wonderful, especially outside of the city (we went to central Naples and it wasn’t my favourite, but once we got to Pompeii it was lovely!) Italian food really is the bomb. I still dream about the mozarella sandwiches I had for lunch over there <3

      freja64 · April 9, 2018 at 6:34 pm

OMG – dripping with olive oil and basilica…

socallucyfan · April 5, 2018 at 10:41 pm

Congrats on the nomination. I love learning all of these fun and interesting facts about everyone.
I went to Italy few years ago. It was so beautiful!! I loved the mix of ancient ruins with modern buildings. Plus Roman Holiday is my favorite movie, so it was fun to go to same places as Audrey Hepburn.

    NotJustaBook · April 6, 2018 at 9:36 am

I loved Italy, especially Pompeii! You’re so right, the mix of ruins and modern buildings is so unique and something we have NOTHING of in Denmark. The really old structures we have are generally buried under our cities.

      socallucyfan · April 6, 2018 at 10:49 am

We don’t have anything close to that in America. Pretty much all of Europe has beautiful architecture. Although I have never been to Denmark, it is for sure on my bucket list.

    NotJustaBook · April 6, 2018 at 10:31 am

Oh and thank you – I forgot that in my excitement 🙂

RosemaryMarie · April 6, 2018 at 8:10 pm

I love that you wrote that novel when you were 12. I think that’s quite an accomplishment for that age. 🙂

The Oxford comma! Yes! 😀 I think it looks nice and neat, too.

    NotJustaBook · April 6, 2018 at 8:13 pm

He, he, thank you 🙂 it was quite short, but I am proud of it. Despite the silly mistakes and copycat nature of it!

It’s delightful. I don’t get why it’s not a thing in all languages!

      RosemaryMarie · April 7, 2018 at 1:08 pm

LOL How I wish I was fluent enough in another language to have noticed that. 😀

RipuAncestor · April 7, 2018 at 6:29 pm

Aww yeah, tea! Also your language situation sounds the same as mine. Just replace Danish with Finnish :). Also the other languages I know are Swedish and French, with a little bit of Japanese. It’s so cool that you know ancient Greek!

I’d love to visit Denmark. Maybe someday… it’s not even that far, so it’s likely.

    NotJustaBook · April 7, 2018 at 7:25 pm

    Tea is the best 😀
High-five for bilingual Scandinavians 😀 I’d like to know Finnish – it’s a cool language and there’s a sort of morbid fascination with all the cases you have! More than even Latin and Greek, I believe 😛

As a Dane I think I have to say go for it 🙂 It can be quite lovely in summer here.

      RipuAncestor · April 9, 2018 at 5:18 pm

🙂 Yeeees, we do have plenty of cases.
