For most of the time I’ve been doing CC, I’ve been exporting a .package directly from tsrw instead of exporting as .sims3pack and converting that to a .package.
Somehow, it didn’t occur to me that the process of exporting as .sims3pack also compresses the file, making it much, much smaller. Therefore, most of my CC .package files are HUGE.
This is not a game-breaking issue. The files work fine and as intended BUT they are as much as 10-20 times as big as they should be and I don’t think I’m the only one with a giant cc folder. On the relevant pages, you’ll now see this notice:
A Note on .Package Files
For most of the time I’ve been doing CC, I’ve been exporting a .package file directly from tsrw rather than exporting a .sims3pack and converting that to a .package. Unfortunately, I somehow didn’t realise that the process of converting to .sims3pack compresses the file, making it much, much smaller in size. In some instances, my .package files are therefore 10 or 20 times bigger than their .sims3pack counterparts.
Obviously, they still work, but they take up a lot of space on your computer and I don’t recommend using these old .package files. Below is a folder containing compressed versions of the files that I had uploaded in uncompressed versions. This only counts for the .package. If you want to download a .sims3pack version, simply follow the regular download link above. And otherwise, use the links pasted below. I’m sorry for any inconvenience caused by this!
Use the links in this box to access a folder with smaller versions of the relevant files.
Alternatively, you can compress the files yourself. Here’s a post that talks about recompressing large files:
See the second point in that post about the TS3 Recompresser. You can use it to compress the files yourself.
I’m very sorry for any incovenience that my silliness has caused. I’ll make a point of making sure to compress my files in the future.
