Hi guys!

So, in my latest chapter I promised that I’d share the poses I had made for it. I thought that would be a simple thing. They were made, after all, and all I would need to do was to take preview pics and pack them, right? Ha, ha, ha… no. First the dancing ones needed some editing done to the female sim’s mouth. You can’t see this in the chapter, but it looked odd and boxy. Then I figured – hey, since these were made with Gina in mind, the female facial expressions are angry, so let’s just add smiling variants. Then I might as well add the random, old and bad dancing pose that I used for the backgrounds, right? Oh, and the names of the clips made no sense. And… before I knew it, I had eleven poses and divided them into two packs to make it less of a terrible task to posepack, and here we are. Two posepacks. Dancing. Let’s do this thang.

Posepack the First: Formal Dance

This pack features the dancing poses from the chapter. It’s been edited a bit, though, and there’s a variant for the second pose. It also includes some sort of old (and thus bad) poses that I used for background sims. Formaldance 1+2 are height-adjusted, 3 isn’t. For 1 and 2 you therefore need to:

  • Either use a height-slider. I use this one by Cmar. Enzo’s height is set to 200, Regina’s to -130.
  • Or use an OMSP to lift up your male. Pop your dude on it and set it to about 13 cm. In this case, I recommend taking pictures from the waist up. Unless you want to – I’m not your mum, so go nuts.

There isn’t a not-adjusted variant of 1+2, and there isn’t a height-adjusted variant of 3. All of them, however, snap together nicely. 1 and 2 can be used interchangeably. It’s basically the same pose, though the first has slightly turned faces/heads and different eye positions. I call them ‘male’ and ‘female’ to distinguish, though they can probably be used for other genders. Be aware, however, that depending on bulk and slider use, they might clip – keep the height-difference in mind as well. Previews are below.

First Pose:

Full body view. (The shirt Enzo wears isn’t great for this pose, but I downloaded it just for him and I haven’t stopped drooling since. If he wasn’t wearing a shirt with a collar, it wouldn’t be clipping).

Closer view of faces/hands.

Face details.

Second Pose:

Full body view.

Closer view.

Face details. The middle one is the one called formaldance-femb. This one is completely the same as the first apart from the face.

For the first and second post, there are a couple of derps. Her left elbow is funky, as you can see, and from the front it’s absolutely atrocious. The holding hands also looks… so, so dumb. This isn’t even a real derps, but shameful laziness. I know it looks awful, but I couldn’t be bothered to change it – I just shot around it.

Bad elbow and their hands look awful. Because I am lazy.

Third Pose:

This one isΒ old. It was originally made for Champion of Moonlight, for the party scene. I ended up never using it, however, when the plot changed. Thus, the only thing I’ve used it for was in the background in my latest chapter – personally I think they’re better suited for the background because I absolutely hate the facial expressions, but whatevs). This one is not height-adjusted.

Full body view.

Closer view.

Face details. (Oh god they’re so bad, don’t sue me).

As always, here be derps.

Derps for the third pose.

For this pose, you get two funky elbows for the price of one – lucky you. The hand on the shoulder may also clip depending on bulk and muscle settings for your sim. At the time I made this, I didn’t leave gaps for broad shoulders and such. Lorenzo isn’t even massively bulky, but there’s still clipping.

These come in their own pack with both list and non-list variants. The list looks like this:

Posepack the Second: Take My Arm

The second set of poses are all height-adjusted. See my note on height-adjustment above – their heights are the same for these. These also snap together, they should also work for both genders, with the caveat that they might clip if you’ve got a very muscular sim in the ‘male’ position. takemyarm2 is a variation on the first. Arms, legs, etc. remain the same, but for the second one they have nice smiles on their faces. The previews are here:

Full body view.

Face details. Frowny face for her and sort of curious/neutral face for him.

Face details – happy variants! (Can you even imagine when we get to a time where Gina *isn’t* perpetually pissed off? Nah, me neither…)

I haven’t taken pictures of the derps this time, but you can probably see that her elbow is funky. I can’t go and make poses without funky elbows, now can I? These of course also come in list and non-list variants. When they show up in your pose list, it looks like this:

Downloads

The packs come as separate downloads, because that way if you only want one, you don’t need to get both together. Both are .zipped and contain:

  • The posepack in question, in both list and non-list variants.
  • A note on height-adjustment.
  • A note with codes+descriptions.
  • Preview pictures with codes on them.
  • Lots of love. (You can’t see it in the folder, but it’s there).

The downloads are ready here:

Download Formal Dance (Box, .zip)

Download Take My Arm (Box, .zip)

Download Formal Dance (SFS, .zip)

Download Take My Arm (SFS, .zip)

Whew, not going to lie, that was a bit of a mouthful, but I hope you guys enjoy and find a use for these. Pleeeease, tell me if there are issues. There are 11 poses all in all here and two packs uploaded, so it gets confusing.

That was all from me for now. Sorry for this long, picture-heavy post, and thanks for checking it out. I’ll see you guys for the next post.

Cheers!

These are great and you’re generous with these variants and all! I don’t currently have a formal dance in mind, but maybe they’ll come in handy later.
Is it about me? Lol, I do not think I struggle that much with hands anymore. I had to do A LOT of hand poses for my big pose dump and so I kind of learned… Uh, I think? I’m always in for more tips, though!
PS: Thank you for the love. I felt it without even opening the gift (aka WinRAR archive)! β™₯

Thank you πŸ™‚ I hope they’ll come in handy. He, he, I figured that since not all people have characters who are constantly pissed (oh Gina…) people might appreciate some smiles πŸ˜›
I feared you’d think so, hence why I’m still not entirely sure about posting those tips. I’ve had something like it in mind for a long time, so I hope it doesn’t seem like I’m singling you out. I’ve seen a lot of people struggling with the hands, and I feel like I have a good method for adjusting hands pretty quickly and easily. We’ll see if I decide to post πŸ™‚

Please do! It’d be lovely to find out about your tips and methods!

Yay! Thanks for sharing πŸ˜€ The facial expressions for the second dancing ones are adorable~ It was nice of you to go back and provide smiling alternatives for the poses XD I am not going to even attempt to go into the pose making business atm, since I have some lovely talented friends I can just steal them from πŸ˜‡ but it’d be cool to see your process. Who knows, I may or may not dabble one day, and I don’t doubt it’ll be super helpful. Well, I’m now downloading these and they are going to be coming in superrrrr handy, so thanks again :3 ❀️️

    NotJustaBook · September 9, 2018 at 7:11 pm

You’re so welcome, Amy <3 It warms my heart that you think they'll be useful πŸ˜€
He, he, well, if you ever decide to go into it, I'll be happy to share tips. Posemaking can be super fun and so handy for when you can't find just the right thing. Until then, I'm perfectly happy to share poses for you to steal, though <3 :)

sempreviva · September 14, 2018 at 11:11 am

Those poses are so nice and, like others said, so useful! It’s a great alternative for snarky unromantic characters, haha!
Thank you so much for sharing – lots of love from here as well (but unfortunately without pretty poses, lol)! <3

    NotJustaBook · September 14, 2018 at 3:59 pm

He, he, I can definitely see these poses coming in useful if anyone has characters who are as snarky as Gina is >:D
I’ll take the love, even without poses <3 Thanks so much!

freja64 · September 25, 2018 at 11:22 am

      freja64 · September 25, 2018 at 11:36 am

I hope you’ll like the ones I’m going in game to set up now. I’ve used your handshake quite a lot, too! πŸ˜‰

        NotJustaBook · September 25, 2018 at 12:53 pm

I’m sure I will! And that’s awesome. I knew handshake poses were useful! πŸ˜‰

          freja64 · September 25, 2018 at 5:33 pm

There aren’t enough simple “socializing” poses; taps on back, air kisses, whispering, pointing at something, shrugging, holding back someone who wants to fight etc…

          NotJustaBook · September 25, 2018 at 7:07 pm

You’re so right πŸ™‚ That’s something I should be making, since as you say – there just isn’t enough of that stuff.

          freja64 · September 26, 2018 at 12:48 am

I’d love to see what you can come up with! πŸ™‚
